With only one week to go until the HSBC Volunteer of the Year program closes, now is the time to think about and formally recognise the outstanding efforts of club volunteers across the country.

Every weekend across Australia volunteers give up their time so that you, your mates, or your kids, can enjoy the game of rugby. It’s an often forgotten role but the reality is that without volunteers, our clubs wouldn’t run.
Ten years ago the Wests Bulldogs rugby club in Brisbane was in need of some help. The club house was run-down; filled with weeds and the odd graffiti tag. Junior player numbers were dwindling and the Club struggled with a solution to turn this around. The on field results told a similar concerning story – no finals football for over ten years and a premiership was a distant memory.
