2017 Australian Schools Championship

The Australian Schools Championship is a National residential tournament for U18 male School players from state/territory and affiliate representative teams, conducted by the Australian Rugby Union.

The Australian Schools Championship is an important element of the Player Pathway at National, provincial, regional and affiliate level with the purpose to provide an effective platform for:

  1. the identification and development of each state/territories talented players, coaches, managers, referees and other officials
  2. the recruitment and retention of players, coaches, referees, managers and other officials;
  3. the benchmarking of talented male U18 players;
  4. Assisting with the improvement of playing standards and development of the game in all participating states/territories and affiliates.
  5. Player development towards future International Tours and Schools Championships

Venue: St Ignatius College, Lane Cove NSW
Arrival date: Thursday 29 June (Combined States), Saturday 1 July (WA); & Sunday 2 July (remaining teams) 
Match days: Monday 3 July, Wednesday 5 July, Thursday 6 July, Saturday 8 July 2017
Departure date: all teams depart on Sunday 8 July, post-Awards Assembly approx 2:30pm
Competing teams: Australian Rugby Union have offered invitations to State/Territory/affiliate representative teams to attend the Australian Schools Championship, including:

New South Wales I & II
Queensland I & II
Victoria
ACT
Western Australia
Combined States


Tournament Manual

The Tournament Manual is intended to set out the rules, regulations and operational information in all areas required by Participating Teams in planning and preparing for, and participating in, the 2017 Australian Schools Championship.

 

The sporting and operational success of the Championship depends upon Participating teams and team members complying with both the letter and the spirit of the Participation Agreement and Tournament Manual.

 

Participating Unions are obliged to comply with the requirements and responsibilities as specified in the Tournament Manual and should ensure that all necessary Team Management are familiar with the contents, including, the requirements of their team members.

 

Participating Unions are responsible for the actions of all persons under their control as defined in the Participation Agreement and Tournament Manual, and are accountable for the compliance of those persons with the Terms of Participation.


Participating Unions are subject to disciplinary action for any breach of the specifications included in the Participation Agreement and Tournament Manual.

 Wednesday 28 June  Anti-Doping - World Rugby E-Learning Course  All players to complete. Certificate of Attainment scans to be sent to Team Manager
 Wednesday 28 June Senior Rugby Dispensation (applicable only to player turning 17 years of age in this calendar year)  Using Schedule A and/or Schedule B dispensation forms, please send completed copy to  Competitions@rugby.com.au
